After a Master in Economics and a post Master (DEA) in Industrial Strategy, Franck became an energy executive with more than 22 years' experience across the world with a strong focus on disruptive technologies and emerging markets. He held management positions within utility (EDF), trading desks (EDF Trading and Mercuria Energy Trading), oil and gas company (Gazprom), industrial company (Rhodia – now part of Solvay), consulting (freelance) and sovereign wealth fund investment vehicle (Masdar).
His areas of expertise are the following:
Electricity – markets, battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, generation assets, EPC, aggregation, virtual power plants, smart grids, smart meters
Venture Capital – funding and mentoring startups supporting energy transition
Gas – small scale LNG, markets, assets
Carbon – markets (EU and international UN credits), structured deals
Franck is now the CEO of Nippon Koei Energy Europe B.V. (NKEE), based in the Netherlands and a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Koei Co. Ltd. (NK). NK was founded in 1946 and is a listed company in Japan with a turnover of ¥112.6 billion in 2020 (equivalent of more than 1 billion USD) with 5,754 employees. NK had during the last 75 years provided engineering consulting and EPC services in more than 160 countries.
NK, signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), supports sustainable development worldwide via engineering and investment in renewable energy projects such as hydro power plants or focused on new business models such as flexibility assets (battery energy storage systems). In addition, NK is providing venture capital for energy transition start ups.
